How to Brew
How many scoops do I use for my coffee maker? We get this question from our customers, all the time. A general guideline is 2 level tablespoons of ground coffee for every 6-8 oz of water. If you like your coffee mild, decrease the amount to about 1 ½ tablespoons. If you like your coffee bolder, increase the amount of coffee. Adjust the water measurements to your taste preference. It might take you several pots, before you get it to the exact measurements of your taste preference.
Quality and Flavor, Cupping Score
Our medium roast is known to be smooth and a bit nutty. The dark roast is known to be smooth yet a little kick at the end. The great thing about ROGERS ROAST Bolivian coffee, is it has no bitter after taste!
Fresh Roasted Coffee
In order to have a superb cup of coffee, you need to purchase fresh coffee often. Purchase your freshly roasted coffee in small amounts. Enough for at least every 2 weeks.
Whole Bean
Whole Bean will give you the freshest possible experience. It is best to grind the beans right before you brew. A burr or mill grinder is recommended in order to grind the beans to a consistent size. The blade grinder is less preferable, due to the inconsistency in the grind. Some of the beans end up finely ground than others, which makes a difference in the taste of the coffee. Be careful not to over grind your coffee beans. If the coffee taste bitter it is a possibility that the bean has been over extracted or its been ground to fine. If your coffee tastes flat, more than likely the ground for the bean was too coarse and the extraction process was unsuccessful.
GOOD WATER
The water you use is VERY important to the quality of your coffee. If you have tap water that is high in chlorine or has an odor, it is best to use filtered or bottled water . Be sure to use cold water when brewing your coffee. Do not use distilled or softened water.
The water temperature of the brewer should be between 195-205 degrees Fahrenheit for optimal extraction. If the water temperature is too cold, the result will be flat and if it is too hot, then the quality in the taste will be lost.
FRENCH PRESS COFFEE MAKER
For our FRENCH PRESS coffee maker boil water then pour onto grounds. Do not over boil the water. Steep for 3-5 minutes. Press plunger down against the grounds or leaves which stops
the brewing process.
